The Architect's Vision: A Seamless Stone Envelope
The Al Nafisi Project was driven by an outstanding architectural design that required a single material to unify the entire structure. By using Classic Vein Cut Travertine for both the facade and the interior, the architect achieved a monolithic, cohesive aesthetic that is both timeless and bold.
Exterior Facade: The Natural Aesthetic
For the villa’s exterior cladding, the client prioritized an organic, "earth-born" feel:
- Finish: Unfilled & Honed. By leaving the natural pores of the travertine open (unfilled) and applying a matte honed finish, the facade maintains a raw, textural beauty that ages gracefully in the desert climate.
- Format: Large 45x90 cm and 30x60 cm tiles were mixed with specialized custom cuts to create a dynamic, rhythmic facade.
Interior Design: High-Gloss Luxury
As you step inside, the stone transforms into a high-fashion surface:
- Finish: Resin Filled & Polished. To highlight the stylish interior design, the pores were filled with a matching resin and polished to a mirror-like shine. This finish amplifies the stone’s linear veins, creating a luxurious and reflective environment.
- Application: Applied to the flooring and walls to ensure a continuous design language from the front door to the private quarters.
Technical Excellence: 15+ Custom Sizes in 3 Months
A villa of this complexity demands extreme precision. Mekmar’s production team successfully manufactured 2,250 m² of stone, including more than 15 different special sizes, all within a strict three-month production window.
- Thickness: A consistent 2 cm thickness was engineered for both the facade and interior flooring, ensuring structural integrity without unnecessary weight.
